DBT stands for Dialectical Behavior Therapy. "Dialectical" means combining opposite ideas. DBT focuses on helping people accept the reality of their lives and their behaviors, as well as helping them to learn to change their lives, including their unehlpful behaviors.
DBT is especially helpful for people who have difficulty managing and regulating their emotions. During a DBT group session you can expect to learn and develop coping skills around the pillars of DBT which include mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
